A word search is a grid filled with letters. The letters are arranged to spell words, and are mixed in with extra letters that camouflage the hidden words. Words can appear in a variety of directions in the grid, with the most common ones being horizontal, vertical, diagonal, and backwards. As the child does the puzzle, they uncover "hidden" words within the grid. Word searches help children develop word recognition, spelling, and reasoning skills.
